| Dianne Ascroft is a Canadian writer living in Britain. Born in Toronto in 1960, she earned a B.A. (History) in 1984. Since moving to Britain in 1990 she has lived in Scotland and Northern Ireland. She and her husband share their small farm with an assortment of strong willed animals. Dianne is also published as Dianne Trimble. She writes both fiction and non-fiction. History, arts/music and human interest stories figure prominently in her non-fiction work. Curiosity about the past has inspired her lifelong interest in history and genealogy and her love of historical fiction novels. She has written about a variety of people and events in bygone days but she is also intrigued by contemporary people who have interesting stories to tell. She has interviewed and profiled ordinary people who lead unusual lives as well as well known people whose unusual lives arouse our interest. Her articles and short stories have been printed in Canadian and Irish regional newspapers including the Toronto Star, Mississauga News, Derry Journal, Ballyclare Gazette and Down Recorder as well as the Irish magazines, Ireland's Own and Senior Times. She is a regular contributor to The Fermanagh Miscellany, the Fermanagh Authors' Association's yearly anthology and she also supplied material for the local history publication, The Brookeborough Story: Aghalun in Aghavea. Dianne is a member of the Historical Novel Society, Fermanagh Authors' Association and the Fermanagh Creative Writing Group. Hitler and Mars Bars is her first novel. |
